Business class, first class, business premium class, economy, economy plus; does all of this sound like Greek to you? Airfare types can be one of the most confusing parts of flying. Learn the difference between these airfare types and you’ll always end up in the right seat. Airfare Type Number One – First Class First class is the gold standard of air travel. It’s all about caviar on the tarmac, champagne at your cruising altitude, and basically stuffing your face your whole way to your destination. It’s also about big, comfy reclining seats with more leg room than you know what to do with. It’s also about big, big bucks. First class airfare can run into the tens of thousands of dollars, literally. Is it worth it? If you’ve got the cash to spare, it’s a flying experience like no other. But remember you can also get there by using your frequent flyer miles for an upgrade. Consider that before whipping out the credit card. |

Airfare Type Number Two – Business Class
Business class is a step down from first class, but it still has some bells and whistles. The big seats are there, as are the free drinks and meals. These seats cost in thousands of dollars, and on some airlines, the difference between first class service and business class service is huge. On some airlines, business class if coach with bigger seats. Before you blow the budget, make sure the airline your on has a business class to be proud of. Airfare Type Three – Economy Class Whether you call is coach or the nicer sounding economy class, these are the cheap seats. If you’re looking for a deal, economy class is for you. It’s not comfy, but the price can be right. Airfare Type Number Four – The In Betweens These airfares are your extra cheap non refundable economy fares, and your “economy plus” seats. If you purchase a non changeable, non refundable ticket, chances are you’ll get a great deal on your seat. Economy plus fares are somewhere between business and economy class. On short haul flights, this doesn’t mean much. On long flights, it can be the difference between comfort and misery. So, which airfare type is right for you? Only you know. Consider your budget and your needs, and choose accordingly. |
