The History Of Taca Airlines
Taca Airlines got its start in Honduras in 1931. Since then, the network has grown to include five airlines. The airlines that make up the Taca group are Lacsa Airline (from Costa Rica), Aeronica (from Nicaragua), Aviateca (from Guatemala), Taca El Salvador, and Taca Honduras. The five airline book flights through one reservation system, maintain a frequent flyer program, and share a fleet. Lacsa Airline does not fly under Taca Airline code numbers, but the remaining airlines share a code as well. Taca operates out of three hub airports: Comalapa International Airport in El Salvador, Jorge Chavez Airport in Lima, Peru, and Juan Santamaria International Airport in San Jose, Costa Rica. From these major hubs, the airlines together fly to most other major airports throughout North, South, and Central America. Taca has a code share agreement with United Airlines which lets it connect its customers to smaller destinations throughout the Americas and to destinations in the rest of the world. Taca Airlines also has its own system of regional, commuter airlines servicing Central and South American destinations.
